Multiple myeloma is a cancer of plasma cells found in bone marrow. Plasma cells are responsible for producing antibodies, but in multiple myeloma the cells over-accumulate and begin to form tumors around the bone marrow.

Treatment for multiple myeloma includes surgery, radiation therapy, and medication. Common drug classes used to treat multiple myeloma are alkylating drugs, bisphosphonates, thalidomides, and proteasome inhibitors.
